What Separates a Good Data Product From a Great One
Stability, velocity, and maturity usually describe systems and architecture. Here, I am applying them to data. For any company that builds a data-driven product, these three qualities matter as much for the data itself as they do for the infrastructure that carries it.
Stability
Stability means the data is always there and it is always correct. This is table stakes: just as you need them to sit down at a poker game, you need stable, accurate data from day one to be taken seriously in a data-driven business. It is a baseline, not a differentiator.
At CloudNuro, analytics is the core of the product, so stable data is not optional. If the numbers are wrong or the data is not consistently available, trust erodes quickly, internally and with customers.
Velocity
If stability is what earns your seat at the table, then velocity is what keeps you in the game. Velocity is the ability to move fast. Once the data underneath is stable, you can ship features and respond to change without breaking what already works.
Maturity
Stability gets you in, velocity keeps you moving, and maturity is what makes the whole thing last. Maturity means executing well, consistently. It builds on stability and comes from scale, experience, and a willingness to keep learning.
This is where differentiation finally comes from. Stable data is not a differentiator, as I said earlier. Maturity is. It is what lets a team build the features that solve real customer problems, the ones that make a product stand out.
